The first is through Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), which works by placing electrodes over the stressed muscles and relaxing them. The second treatment is through the use of a therapeutic ‘orthotic’.

An orthotic is a bite positioner that can be worn to allow your jaw to rest in its optimal position so that it is relaxed and comfortable. After a few months of treatment using the orthotic, your symptoms should be alleviated. For a more permanent solution, Dr. Bufo can use additional orthodontic and cosmetic techniques to permanently reshape your bite and relieve you of your TMJ.
